Children & Families Worker

Hello from Lisa!

Hi, I am the Children & Families Worker at North Walkden Primary School. My role involves supporting the wellbeing of children and their families. I also look to build links with parents and the wider community.

I spend a lot of time in school working with children with specific emotional needs, either by doing 1:1 work with them or working with groups of children together.

I can also provide support to parents on a wide range of issues - anything from queries about what services are available, parenting questions and advice, debt advice, housing advice, support during difficult times and much more.

So, if you ever want to chat about anything, do feel free to contact me. The best way to do this is through the school office, either in person or by phone. If I am not available, I will get back to you as soon as I can.

Salford Young Carers

One of the issues I sometimes have involvement in is with children who are young carers.

A young carer is someone who is under 18 and who provides, or intends to provide, care for another person.

Being a young carer can be very challenging and here at North Walkden, we would like to find ways to identify and support any young carers at the school.

If you think you are a young carer, or if you know someone who is, you can contact me, Lisa Blemmings, at school for further help and advice.  You can either phone the school office on 01204 571039 or pop in.

Autistic Spectrum Support for People (A.S.S.P)

If somebody in your family or somebody that you know is living with Autism or Aspergers there is a great support group running in Little Hulton. Every Thursday & Friday 1pm-3pm at Peel Park Pavillion.

The Group would like parents and children with ASD, diagnosed or not, to know that support is out there. All adults and children are welcome at the group.  Some of the support on offer includes:

·         Support with form filling e.g. PIP, DLA

·         Support with CAMHS when seeking a diagnosis

·         1:1’s with parents/adults if they are not confident in attending the Group

·         Lending Library with resources such as books about ASD, Sensory Toys

·         Coping strategies for parents
